In electrostatic powder spraying, the spray gun is charged with high voltage (30-100 kV), but the powder and pendant (workpiece hanger) are not conductive due to the following reasons:

1. The Powder is Insulating (Non-Conductive)
The powder used in electrostatic spraying is made of insulating materials (such as polyester, epoxy, or polyurethane).

When the spray gun charges the powder, the insulating nature of the powder allows it to temporarily hold the charge, preventing it from immediately dissipating.

If the powder were conductive, it would not retain the charge, making electrostatic attraction ineffective.

2. The Pendant (Hanger) is Grounded
In electrostatic spraying, the workpiece (and its hanger) must be properly grounded to attract the charged powder.

Why is there no electricity on the pendant?

Since the hanger is grounded, any charge that reaches it immediately dissipates into the ground.

This ensures that the workpiece remains conductive, allowing the negatively charged powder to be attracted to it.

3. The Spray Gun Has High Voltage, But No Current Flow
The electrostatic spray gun operates at high voltage but very low current (microamperes), meaning:

The gun itself is charged, but no electricity flows to the pendant or workpiece.

The powder particles are charged and move toward the grounded workpiece, but the hanger itself does not hold a charge.

4. If the Pendant is Not Properly Grounded, Coating Problems Occur
🔹 If the hanger (pendant) is not well-grounded, the powder will not adhere properly because there is no strong electrostatic attraction.
🔹 This can lead to poor coating coverage, weak adhesion, and excessive overspray.
🔹 Solution: Regularly clean hangers to remove paint buildup and ensure a strong electrical ground connection.
